Test Method
The EN 6942 test involves exposing a material sample to a controlled radiant heat source. The fabric is placed at a specific distance from the heat source, and its thermal behavior is measured based on two testing procedures:

  1. Heat Transfer Assessment (Method A)

    • The material is exposed to radiant heat, and the increase in temperature on the opposite side is recorded using a calorimeter.
    • This method helps determine the insulation properties and thermal protection effectiveness of the fabric.

  2. Visual Alteration Assessment (Method B)

    • The fabric is subjected to radiant heat, and visual changes such as charring, shrinking, or melting are observed.
    • This method evaluates the material’s durability and integrity when exposed to heat.
